Helping children and young people take part in What matters most

The WIFVC team was fortunate to attend the recent ANROWS conference - Listen, learn, act: Centring children and young people to end violence - which stressed the absolute need to elevate and incorporate the lived experiences of children and young people in our work. Read a statement from the incredible young advocates involved in the conference here. Improved service responses for children and young people is a key focus for WIFVC, guided by input from our members. We are looking forward to the upcoming release of the Child and Young Person MARAM Practice Guidance, and supporting the sector in embedding the voices of children and young people to ensure systems and services meet their individual needs.

The Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) wants to hear from children and young people across Victoria. This project gives those aged under 25 the chance to share what’s important to them, including what they would like to see change in Victoria.

How to take part in What matters most

Children and young people can share their story however they’d like, either individually or as a group. They can write it down, draw a picture, record a video or audio, or create music or something else unique.

Submissions will help CCYP advocate for changes to services and laws that affect young people. If the child or young person provides their consent, we may share their stories to inspire others and raise awareness to government about what needs to change.

Every submission goes into the draw for a chance to win great prizes, like gift cards, tickets to sporting events and fun activities, or a day working with the Commissioner.

Find out more. Submissions close 27 June 2025.
