The west metropolitan IFVRAG plays a central role in embedding the statewide Indigenous Family Violence prevention plan into local responses and initiatives that address family violence.

Jagriti is a community forum established by leaders in Melbourne’s Indian community who were concerned about the levels of family violence experienced by Indian families living in Australia. The WIFVC partnered with Jagriti to produce Happy Families, Happy Communities, a resource that helps Indian community leaders in the western suburbs to direct families towards specialist help for family violence.

The Western Think Child Working Group was established in 2011 to progress the Think Child Agreement at a local level. The Working Group facilitates collaborative working relationships between Child FIRST, family services, Child Protection and family violence services. It also enhances the priority actions outlined in the Think Child Agreement and promotes its principals in the work of all partners.

The WIFVC MARAM Information Sharing Working Group has been formed to support the implementation of the MARAM and Information Sharing Schemes in Melbourne’ west. This Working Group will monitor the progress of implementation of these system wide reforms at a regional level, identify opportunities to support cross-sectoral work and make recommendations to the WIFVC Governance Group to address barriers and support implementation across Western Melbourne and Brimbank Melton. The WRWCFVP endeavours to improve service delivery for family violence case management amongst the partner agencies: Women’s Health West, McAuley Community Services for Women, CoHealth, VACCA, Good Shepherd, MacKillop Family Services and Elizabeth Morgan House. The Partnership also aims to enhance integration and innovation at a regional level to ensure safety for women and children.

Led by GenWest, Preventing Violence Together is the regional partnership and strategy that guides the primary prevention of men’s violence against women in the west. In 2010, Preventing Violence Together was launched as the first regional primary prevention partnership and action plan of its kind in Victoria.
The Preventing Violence Together partnership has recognised that cross-sector partnerships and long-term funding are integral to establishing primary prevention efforts that are effective and comprehensive. The partnership is composed of 19 partner organisations.
