National Sorry Day
National Sorry Day, on Monday 26 May, is a day for everyone to reflect on the horrific mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people forcibly removed from families and communities, now known as ‘The Stolen Generations’. The impact of colonisation is ongoing and we recognise the strength and resilience of First Nations people who face disproportionate impacts of family violence. WIFVC is committed to reconciliation; to learning from and working alongside the First Nations communities across Melbourne’s west – the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation. We are thankful for their rich diversity, cultures, histories and knowledges, and the deep contribution they make to the life of this region.
