National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) this week provides the opportunity for us to critically examine the language we use and its impact on those we work with and beyond. Our recently launched Abuse of Older People Response Toolkit uses ‘abuse of older people’ rather than ‘elder abuse’ out of respect for the term ‘Elder’ by First Nations communities. This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme is Bridging Now to Next, calling on us all to be guided by past lessons as we step ahead and push forward together.
